Loretta, Have had sort of the same thing in my dads family, his mother ran of with a travelling salesman who she was pregnant too, leaving dad behind. When I started looking at my gg grandparents I had contact with a family memebr who didnt know about his g aunts marriage and son before she had the last son. Caused quite a problem especially when I sent him the certificates to prove what I had been saying. Apparently it had been covered up for a few decades. They say you should never start a family history unless you're prepared for a few skeletons in the cupboard. And I certainly have some in mine. It sounds like you might have one too.
