Hi Judy, Only get up to Karrakatta a few times a year but often do lookups for people. I had a look at the Karrakatta map thinking I would add it to my list for when I was next there & couldn't find Anglican section GA. This made me think it may be one of the reclaimed areas, especially as this grave is quite an old one. I gave Karrakatta a ring & they checked & told me that yes it is one of the reclaimed areas. Although it didn't used to happen, over the last few years they have had a policy of photographing headstones before removing so I asked about the possibility of the existence of a photograph. They checked & unfortunately although this section was photographed there was not a headstone on this grave. Sorry, but at least you now know. If anyone on the list did want to make contact with Karrakatta (or any of the other cemeteries covered by the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board) they have a 1300 number - 1300 793 109 or email: <mailto:mcb@mcb.wa.gov.au?subject=MCB%20Website%20Query-Karrakatta>mcb@mcb.wa.gov.au. Although I detest the Cemetery Board grave renewal program I must say I have always found the staff very helpful. Hi Sharon, Why are areas being reclaimed? Does this mean the plots that are removed are recycled again. I have an aunt in the Nuns' section, the grant expires in 2012, does this mean the grant has to be renewed.
