My mothers cousin was last living in Currimundi Lakes, Qld. in 1987. I looked up the 1994 Qld E/Rolls in the National Library here in Wellington but no-one of that name listed anywhere in Qld. I would be surprised if she was still living as no-one has had any contact from her for 10-12 years as it was that long ago that mail to her had been returned from the Currimundi Lakes address. If she were alive she would be 94 yrs old. What cemeteries are nearby? Also does anyone know who the local funeral directors are? She had no relatives in Qld unless her husband had relatives in the area but no-one knows what happened to him. Shirlee Wellington, NZ
Hello Shirlee Currimundi is a suburb of Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. Cemeteries nearby are - Caloundra, Buderim and Nambour, all of which come under the Sunshine Coast Regional Council. There are a heap of small cemeteries scattered around the coast and hinterland, however, these would be the most likely. Contact details for all three are through - Cemetery Office Sunshine Coast Council Kulangoor Memorial Sanctuary MS 1985 31-89 Ackerman Road Kulangoor via Nambour Qld 4560 Phone: (07) 5459 2300 Fax: (07) 5441 2494 International prefix +6 17 Email: cemeteries@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au The most popular funeral director would be Gregson and Weight and Caloundra - They also have memorial walls and gardens within their complex. Their contact details are - Gregson and Weight Caloundra - caloundra@gregsonweight.com.au There is also a funeral director at Currimumdi - Premier Funerals, 676 Nicklin Way, Currimundi, QLD, 4551. Phone number: (07) 54935422. They don't appear to have a website. She may still be alive and have moved to a nursing home or aged care complex. Again there are many of these within the coast area.
