David, Just in case it is helpful try NLA newspapers and scroll down to family notices. (its very faint on the side. It is Australia wide and you might be lucky with the right combination and get a funeral notice. But be warned its an addictive site amazing what and who pops up so try narrowing down. Sandra Magee D Weatherill wrote: Thank you to those who replied; greatly appreciated. I did try the website you noted Daryl, no luck. Not all cemeteries were included. Just frustrating when you get a photo with no information about it included, or not known with it. Trying to put together families for some of my old cemeteries. Ah, research!! Cheers, David
Hi Sandra; Thank you for this. I had tried the NLA papers just in case as well as all cemeteries on line for Co Mayo. The problem with the Co Mayo Cemeteries lists are that they are not complete. My hope would be that there might be a member of the List in Ireland who could help. Over the years I have had 5 requests from Irish people for help with burials in Victorian cemeteries, so at least it did show that someone in Ireland does belong to the List, read the emails from the Rootsweb lists, read the website of Aust Cemeteries, or just "Googles" a cemetery. It was a faint hope in posting my request on the List. As noted in a previous message I might have to email a contact in the area or the Co Mayo Family History Groups (2) for help. It is frustrating when data does not have a reference (and date) attached to it. Still I was lucky in getting a copy of the photo in the first place. I should not complain. I do know that Thomas and Margaret died in Co Mayo and were buried there. The family contact had a parent who visited the grave and photographed it quite a few years ago, 1970s. Thanks again for all of those who did help.
