Thanks Garry - I think he may have been buried on a farm, the only reason, apart from not being buried at emerald that I'm thinking this is that his father was listed as a farmer in an 1850 census - so maybe. Have just started looking for this litte fellow, only found him yesterday, so I've got a long way to go. Still I like to find out as much about the little ones who die young as I can, they never have much in their family tree entries, but SOMETHING - so I'll keep looking. Cheers Jo.
Hi Jo, no Isaacs listed on the memorial record for Emerald cemetery. The earliest date on a memorial is 1882 but that is on a large family memorial that most likely was created well after the event. The memorial dates seem to start in the 1890's. It's quite common for a memorial to list previous deaths in a family or people buried elsewhere. Yours, Garry. ----- Original Message ----- From: "joko" <joko@tadaust.org.au> To: "Aus Cem" <AUSTRALIA-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 17, 2010 12:59 PM Subject: [AUSTRALIA-CEMETERIES] Emerald Cem > Hi I've looked at the Emerald website, and the name I'm looking for is not > there, I'm not very surprised it's Jacob Isaacs a Jewish boy born and died > 1862 - I googled "when was Emerald Cemetery Gazetted" and got a website > that > said "late 1800's" which is so not helpful. Hi I've looked at the Emerald website, and the name I'm looking for is not there, I'm not very surprised it's Jacob Isaacs a Jewish boy born and died 1862 - I googled "when was Emerald Cemetery Gazetted" and got a website that said "late 1800's" which is so not helpful. Does anyone know which decade of the 1800's the cemetery started? Much appreciated, kindest regards, Jo.
