    3. welll from memory ours was 86 and 88the first all were invited as one member had done a book on our lineage, years of hard work we were all invited, asked to donate $5 each towards a plaque for our 1st arrivals who are buried here. On the day we visited the sites where our forebearers started out here in Canberra,in the afternoon we had a ceremony at the graveside piper and all to witness the plaques being laid. That nite we congregated at a club for dinner almost 150 of us on the Sunday we went outof town to where the family finally settled to see the remains of the old homestead etc. Had a picnic lunch provided my ourselves and we were given the option of buying a copy of the book on our lineage which most did, and it is very good, very well done. From there we went our seperate ways promising to meet up again in another 150 years. The second one was a;long similar lines, visited the cemetery where this side of the ancestors lie had dinnner at the club old family photos and the lineage spread out on the dance floor for all to see where they fitted in, amazed at how many turned up and the relatives we had known forever, but didnt know we were related, but it all came via invitation and very handy if someone has done a family tree, easier to find addresses etc, also the newspapers, specially if its the local area where it all began someone usually knows someone and so on,hope this helps. ps yes and it is quite amazing how much alike families can look when they get together, eerie actually. ----- Original Message ----- From: <mrshaw@bigpond.com> To: <AUSTRALIA-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 14, 2003 8:11 PM Subject: [[AUS-CEM]] Re: [[AUS-CEM]] Family reunions > our local paper has a space for just that. > > the bloggs family are updating their family tree. any bloggs or smiths or > small or ward family wishingto be included contact so and so by email or > phone... > > hoping to have a family tree planting day, date, bring something to > contribute for lunch. drinks on sale (boy scouts). have it maybe at a > local park, ask council can you plant some trees, each 'line' gets a tree > and a marker for it. > oldest person there gets to plant each line's tree. > > we had displays and photos and a cherry pickker got photos of each 'line; > which was sold later on. you had to pay on the day. $10 each. good idea. > > they yelled out, all thomas freney line, over to the park sign. then it was > all those related to martin freney, over here please, and so on. if you did > not hear, you missed out. tough. we actually got our park named 'freney > park'. it is in brisbane, where the family originally came from. rocklea. > > we had a great day. i reckon i saw my father there at least 20 times. they > all looked the same. it was uncanny. we also had sets of glasses with the > family crest and other stuff. had to roder beforehand. i still love mine. > robyndehood.toowoomba. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Sheryl" <s.snelleksz@xtra.co.nz> > To: <AUSTRALIA-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Monday, July 14, 2003 6:48 PM > Subject: [[AUS-CEM]] Family reunions > > > > Hello everyone > > > > We are planning on perhaps having a family reunion and wondered if > > anyone was willing to email me with any tips, ideas or suggestions on > > ways they have found successful in running these sorts of events, things > > to do etc. Perhaps suggestions as well as an introductory approach > > through mail/email of finding out if people are interested...never done > > this before so would be open to all sorts of things. > > > > Thanks to all in advance > > Kind Regards > > Sheryl > > > > > > > > ==== AUSTRALIA-CEMETERIES Mailing List ==== > > ================================================================== > > "Please "do not" post virus warnings to the list. > > ================================================================== > > > > ============================== > > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, > go to: > > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > > > > > > ==== AUSTRALIA-CEMETERIES Mailing List ==== > ================================================================== > Anyone who wishes to make direct contact with Administrators > of this site may do so by Ray <batie@bigpond.net.au> > ================================================================== > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 >
