    3. Hi Marie Patrick Lanigan is not listed on the Sandgate Cemetery Index or the Beresfield Crematorium Index. Best bet is to ask a transcription agent to obtain a copy of his death certificate. Cheers, Patricia May of Shoal Bay, on the shores of Port Stephens, NSW, Australia

    3. I didn't think Sandgate was online. I'm pretty sure they have recently released either microfiche or CD versions of their database though because Maitland Family History Circle has a copy. I've looked up names in the not too distant past - I think it is on microfiche - I can't be sure. Perhaps one of the local family history groups might look up each mention of your surname for a similar cost. I'm only guessing here of course, but it would be worth a try. I'm sure Newcastle Library would have them. They have an excellent resource and have all the local records. 3. From the SAG's recent CD of this cemetery's headstones, a friend has found an ancestor's headstone included the fact a six-pointed star was shown. I feel this could be the terminology to indicate a Jewish Star of David was noted, but as the ancestor was buried in the Old Presbyterian section (in 1882), we're wondering if this is likely. Can anyone come up with other ideas or suggestions, please ? Thanks in advance ... Even though I have information of the death certificate of David Thomas stating he was buried on 16th June 1887, at the New Cemetery Melbourne, there is no record of his death. I rang the Necropolis and they had no record and referred me to Fawkner. They also have no record and checked all cemeteries and came up with nothing - so where is he??
