Chris, You found my email offensive??, excuse me, but Ms. Pike is talking about turning Cemeteries into Parklands!!!, Chris , what does one do at Parklands??.If I have offended you or anyone else my sincere apologies, BUT you made the comment" To carry on like that on ANYONE'S grave is appalling ", yes, it is but when I go to parks I play touch footy, I have barbecues, AND there are always children playing??. Leanne
Once again Jonathan, a great job. It is wonderful to start seeing some Hawkesbury info on the web. Just makes me even more homesick :( but I do love it. Ray & Peter, thank you for making sure that we all have access to this information & a wonderful website. And a big thank you to everyone who does take the time to do lookups, etc. I only wish I was closer so that I could help all of you out. Maybe next time I'm in Australia I can work on another cemetery :) Sometimes thank yous do not get said enough & they can mean the world of difference to someone. So please consider this a big thank you to everyone & please know that someone does appreciate it when you help. I found Leanne's comments quite offensive. To carry on like that on ANYONE'S grave is appalling and while we all criticise politicians, to state that they have no morals, no principals and no integrity is a quite a bit over the top. I don't believe those sort of suggestions should be aired on this forum!! Ray's comments are far more constructive!! Better still I'm sure it wouldn't be to hard to find out about Ms. Pike's family? Why not for some of us to do a little research on her family and put a negative into a positive and give it back to her maybe she might think twice? Please think lets put a couple of negatives and make a positive it might help the matter a little better. "Lets be seen as a friendly group of members please?" But it's just my idea.? Comments please? Hi Christine My sister in law just rang and she has been checking out Robinvale for you. May is buried in the Church of England section Row 15, she is in a single 6 foot grave and has no headstone. My sister in law said she was sorry there was nothing but earth to take a photo of but I hope this information helps you. She also asked some church elders and townspeople but no-one knew her. Why was she in Robinvale? Hi listers, Well stage one of our Look up program is in place, on the web site. But at a new address, Australian Cemeteries has it very our server. For several weeks, I have been working to put this in place. Using a Broadband connection and permanently connected computer, allows us to do this. The address is: http://www.ozgenonline.com/aust_cemeteries/ Please pay it a visit. Why our own server? Well, it means that our Australian Data is on an Australian server. No advertising, no pop ups. Ray and Myself have not discounted advertising all together, If we ever do, it will be of interest to group as a whole. It also means we are not limited by a space allocation of our server, we are limited only by hard drive size, which is about 6 gig. This means we can become a data and/or photo storage vessel, if we wish. An example is Wards Belt Primitive Methodist cemetery, which also includes a photo of all headstones. Which only amounts to five, but it is an example of what is now available. So please give it a visit, while you are surf in around the machine, we will be able to judge it's performance over all. For those of you that are Look up volunteers, can you please check that I have put links on the right cemeteries, and with the right email addresses. I did a mail out to our original Volunteers, I did not receive a reply from: dandlbegg@netexcel.net.au clingan@braidwood.net.au michellehornery@yahoo.com.au kaferal@hotmail.com theobriens@ozemail.com.au mglenn@batemansbay.com.au thedunns2@bigpond.com wiltele@tpg.com.au joybell@mcmedia.com.au niftyner@alphalink.com.au If this is a current/or former address, I need to know please. For those listers interested in cemeteries located in the Hawkesbury Region (NSW), we have completed the following cemetery: Lower Portland, Half Moon Farm Cemetery http://www.hawkesbury.net.au/cemetery/half_moon_farm/ Additional note: "Half Moon Farm Cemetery documents the burial place of some of the earliest settlers on the Hawkesbury. All of the monuments in the cemetery predate the 1856 Civil Register and may be the only record of the individuals concerned. The cemetery which incorporates monuments featuring unusual designs and naive scripts dates entirely to the nineteenth century." Hi Leanne, Seems like you have been a very busy person with all that work being done, now I need to ask you, would you like to have them all listed on our Cemetery web page or are you only offering look up? It would be wonderful if you would be willing to share them with us all and your name would be noted as the transcribe, otherwise do you want me to just list you as a look ups person at this stage? I'll await your reply, fingers crossed that you would be happy to share then with us on our Web page? Kindest regards, Ray. for Robynne, Peter and myself. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leanne Dalley" <ldalley@powerup.com.au> To: <AUSTRALIA-CEMETERIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 18, 2003 3:46 PM Subject: [[AUS-CEM]] re Cemetery Lookups Hi Raymond, I have already indexed Kingston Pioneer Cemetery, Bethel Cemetery, Chambers Flat Cemetery, Tygum Pioneer Cemetery, Henry Jordan Park, Dennis Family Cemetery, St. Mark's Anglican Church Historic Cemetery, St. Joseph's Church School, Irish Catholic Cemetery and Parkhouse Cemetery. Hi Brett, thanks for your reply. Quite a few of these places that you have listed are ones that we are often at, recently was in Warrnambool, and have convict and family ancestors buried at Cobden, and am often down Warrnambool way. We are also regularly at Marysville, (it's a lovely serene spot), and of course at Benalla, Wang. and Tatura. Also have rels. buried at Campberdown. Sometimes even get over to Mitta, over Mt. Hotham, and Shepparton Cemetery is of course very well known to me, as my g.parents are buried there, its my home town. I take it you have pics. of all these soldiers? Yes, it is very cold here, the grass is very lush however which is great to see after the severe prolonged drought. We spent a week in Cairns in July, and the weather waas quite bearable, but would hate to be there now, I hear it has been quite hot there in Bris. Good luck for your 5 weeks in WW. Wish I had that stamina, would love to be that fit. Will get back to you, and you can let me know what cemeteries you need after you get back. In the meantime, if I'm around any of the listed places, I will check it out for you and get a pic. All the best. Until 8 years ago when new clubrooms were built, the Epping (Vic) Memorial Hall was home to the local RSL branch. There was a rose garden where some members ashes were scattered and memorial plaques installed. When the club moved to its new home the plaques and memorials were also taken to the new location and the rose garden remained. Recently the local Council landscaped the area at the Memorial Hall, and the rose garden was demolished. After complaints the rose garden will be replaced and a new garden and memorial will be dedicated this Remembrance Day. How quickly history can be forgotten by authorities. Jackie
