3. Maybe the father was buried in a single gave where as the Mother could have been buried in a gave with room for 2 persons Like my Grandfather buried in Eaglehawk alone but room for one more and my grandmother his wife buried in Altona Memorial Park because she said no one would visit her if she was in Eaglehawk and also room for one more with her. 3. Hi all My Grandparents on both sides purchased plots at Preston in the early 1940's with Dad's mother being buried there in 1948 and his father in 1974 even though he had remarried. With regards to the other part of this discussion is the fact that my brother was killed in Mt Isa (North West Qld) but was buried at Preston in 1964 with Mum's Dad due to the fact that we had very little money left after having brought him home to Melbourne by air(where Mum and Dad always knew they would return to) as you can imagine the costs involved in 1964. This in turn led to Nana being buried with my Aunt and my Uncle being buried on his own. Life throws out the best laid plans at times!!! Cheers, Nola Make the switch to the world's best email. 3. Hi All Definitely worth checking other area cemeteries as I had a great uncle who died in Broken Hill NSW in the 1940's and was buried with his mother in West Terrace cemetery in Adelaide. I would love to know why as I think he had lived in NSW for many years so I wouldn't have thought he was that close to his mother. And anyway his father had been buried in Broken Hill in the early 1900's, so that made it even stranger!! DON'T assume that a person who is registered in town / suburb is buried nearby. I my research of deaths and burials in my local country area I was surprised at how many people had died in Sydney and were buried in my local cemetery, or had died in one of my local towns and were trained (by train on railway) to Sydney, Melbourne or some other destination. Check local cemeteries for sure, but you may never know just where a person has been buried. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

3. Must agree with this, I take photos of graves for others, sometimes find the person miles away from where they died. An example, person died in Parkville ( Melbourne), buried at Grantville (Westernport), many miles away. Barb > > DON'T assume that a person who is registered in town / suburb is buried > nearby.

1. [AUSTRALIA-CEMETERIES] CATHOLIC CEMETERY SYDNEY
2. Peter Strauss
3. Hi Listers, I am trying to locate what was recorded on my GGG grandmother's death certificate in 1860 as the "Catholic Cemetery" in Sydney. She lived in Chippendale which was very close to the Sandhills or Devonshire St Cemetery, this had a large Catholic section. This location is now the site of Sydney Central Railway Station built in the first decade of the 20th century. The remains were relocated to Rookwood and other Sydney cemeteries although not all were identified and due to poor records some may not have been recovered. I have tried the Catholic Cemeteries Board at Rookwood who checked but found nothing. I was directed to the St. Marys Cathedral Archives and was curtly told to find a genealogist. Can any lister suggest an alternative location and how to search it please. In case any of you have CDs or other records the name was Sarah LYNCH, buried 16th June 1860 (02208/1860) Cheers Peter Melbourne

3. Hi Jo. Depending on the year what about Parramatta ? There is St Johns Cemetery and All Saints Church. Also there are 2 old cemeteries in North Parramatta. I have the St John's book but can't lay my hands on it for the moment. Will check when I find it. Some of my husband's rellies were buried at Newton, not that far from Auburn, depending on the religion as most of those cemeteries are attached to churches.
