Glenys This is free, you need to join (free) if you want to edit the ocr reading, that is the computer reads the paper then translates it but the reading if blurred etc is not at all accurate, you can fix this for others. You can also print off the article etc. I have been trapped here since Saturday!!!! It is very addictive. Also if there is a funeral notice you may find your people buried in a different place to where they have died. I have found inquests, deaths, funerals, bankruptsies, and best of all arrests etc. Carmel
I used to live in Surry Hills and I seem to remember one cemetery just off the Burwood Highway about half a kilometer east of the Warrigal Road intersection. I'm sorry that I don't know what it was called. Perhaps someone else from that area could clarify. ________________________________ Terence R. Not to build up hopes here but I have had a wonderful time since Sat going through http://ndpbeta.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/home which has a number of Australian newspapers scanned on line. Thanks Julie .......... you are very kind. I am new to the site but it looks fascinating. The ancestor's name is ANN HUGHES (that's the name on her Death Certificate but she was also known from time to time as Ann GOLDIE - it was her maiden name). She was buried 0n 17th December 1860 by Thos. Dixon (Undertaker). The witnesses were Thomas Batty & John Rankin. I hope I can get a lead as to where she was laid to rest.
