Hi Norma, I would appreciate any help you can give from the records for James Hook and his wife Mary Ann Vincent. They lived in Footscray in 1913, James was a miner. This information came from my Grandmother, Olive Wager Hook's marriage certificate. Thank you, in appreciation Debbie On 20/11/2008, at 1:10 PM, Norma Vella wrote: > Hi list, > I thought I would let you know that Footscray cemetery records are > all on the computer at the Footscray library from 1861 so if any one > wants a look up to let me know I can check > Regards Norma > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' > without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >

Good Morning; Another old Victorian cemetery I have started to research and would appreciate any help with. BURRUNGABUGGE CEMETERY: * The cemetery of 2 acres was gazetted on the 4th September, 1885 [VGG 1885/2548] noting it as Burrungabugge (Dart River). * It was noted as being located on a track off Dartmouth Road leading to Granite Flat. * Location: Dartmouth, Towong Shire. * It was a crown reserve. * The DHS Cemetery Unit has a file on Dartmouth Cemetery and I am wondering if they are the same? * The DSE Historic Places Unit lists it as the Burrungabugge Cemetery Reserve. * There is no record if the cemetery was ever used or if it was gazetted closed: Status undetermined. * In the Towong Shire Heritage Study of places it is not identified. * The cemetery reserve is still noted on the DSE cadestral plan for the area: Parcel P204295 So if anyone does have any data noting it, or if it was known by both names - Buggungabugge and Dartmouth, the information would be greatly appreciated Kindest regards, David ------------------------------------------- David Weatherill Bundoora Victoria Australia
As previously advised, we added the first, approximately 1000 names indexed from Warrnambool Lawn Cemetery to the Cemeteries site. Although we have not been able to spend any time at Portland recently, we had indexed a little over 700 names there - from the oldest sections. As we do not get the opportunity to travel around as much as we used to, the Portland index has, and will continue to, stagnate for some time. So we have added this index to the site as a second bonus. Simply go to the home page, as detailed below, and next to the 'Cemeteries of SW Victoria' link, you will see two "BONUS INDEXES" links - one for Warrnambool Lawn and the other for Portland. Bear in mind these are provided "outside" our normal indexing procedures, so are not integrated into the Global Surnames Index provided for the other Cemeteries. David, It may well be the East Wangaratta Cemetery. The cemetery was on land donated by Diffey and 3 Sandersons are buried there. I have a file which I could forward to you off list if you wish. Budgerum cemetery Approximately 8 kilometres north west of Quambatook Kerang road, is the Budgerum cemetery It was in operation from 1889 - 1908, but it is noted there were no further burials after 1903. no known burial records for many of the residents appear to exist today, and only three headstones remain. If anyone has any information regarding family members buried here, I would appreciate hearing from them. Hope to have a memorial stone with names placed beside the existing memorial. I have made a change to the Cemetery Stats page on the SW Victoria Cemeteries site. >From the main index, you can access statistical info about each Cemetery by clicking on the 'Cem STATS' link. I have now added the year of the earliest and most recent deaths recorded in the index for each Cemetery. This should give everyone a good "feel" for the date range covered by the headstone transcriptions included. Don't forget, also, that there is a bonus extra available from the home page - the first 1000 (well over 900) names transcribed from the Warrnambool Lawn section. Click on the 'Warrnambool BONUS' link next to the 'Cemeteries of SW Victoria' link Regards, Ian MARR This message can be considered to be in the public domain.
