Does anyone know of a site that explains abbreviations in shipping list records? I am transcribing several photocopies of ships passenger lists which relate to my immigrant ancestors. One set of abbreviations seems to pertain to religion. C,E,D and F. Another I'm assuming is a level of literacy /\ , /. I'm sure I'll come across more, I'm only up to the first list. Any suggestions?
