    3. G'day from WA before we get a bushfire going on this subject.I would just like to make a couple of observations, on the following messages (which are ALL correct; by the way!) Firstly I have always been told by LDS staff that the IGI are only intended as a guide as to where to search for verifiable information. Secondly as in the instance first quoted a lot of people are on the lists because a source person remembers there was an Uncle Bill but has no details. putting this person on IGI may then result in another researcher being able to tie in that person into their tree. In my own case I have no details of any Aunts or Uncles beyond the first names that I always used ( i.e. Aunt Gladys, was she Dads sister or Sister in Law, but I will list her as a relation on Dads side , in the hopes I mau in future find documents to make her one or the other,) So perhaps we should all accept IGI and many other online searches for what they all are,a source of HELP to find places to search for confirmation records of our ancestors. Just like Censuses etc they are only as much use as we make of them , misspellings, omissions and all. If we use them all together we can often find the people we seek. Also we should all try to help by answering queries, where we can , and maybe even putting our parts of the tree onto World Connect or similar to help others in their searches. I have traced my grandparents by use of UK Censuses, IGI, Ancestry Com , and a lot of list members around the world, So I know if we all pull together we can suceed,it just takes time and the ability to think laterally ewhen faced with brick walls.
