My gggrandparents were John Valentine Lowe and Margaret Ferguson. Margaret is the daughter of John Blair Ferguson who was the first headmaster of the Free Church School in Templestowe around 1850. She married John Lowe in 1852 and they settled in the Doncaster, Templestowe, Durban Creek, Ivanhoe areas in the following years. I cannot trace the ancestors of this John Valentine Lowe except that he may have been born in Hobart in 1829 and he may have had a relative James Samuel Lowe born Tasmania 1827 who also married Isabella Maclaren in Melbourne in 1850. John Valentine Lowe was the leaseholder of a shop in Heidelberg in 1856. Would anyone know how I could possibly trace details of this shop and also would anyone have any details at all on the early Lowes of the area.
