My apologies for Cross-Posting, those who are on other lists may receive this on their list. For those who wish to use this information I suggest printing out this email (Apologies for the signature's, but that's life) After seeing a few emails on the topic of the Vic BD & M, I visited the page and here's a copy of the info thats contained and available to all who look at the page:- Please bear in mind if your'e using Netscape as your browser (Like me) you'll have to undertake a couple of Tune up's and changes, it's not hard at all, their FAQ page takes you through it, you'll have to do it before you start your search and transaction, then close and re-start your browser. My advice is to do these changes "BEFORE" visiting the site. Remember to have your credit card ready also. This is a copy (off their page) of the FAQ Section,. "If you are having any problems, you can find your answer here or phone our helpdesk on (03) 9262 1616 or send an e-mail to maxi@maxi.com.au Browser Settings/Problems Q. What settings do I need to check before I start? A. You will need to turn on Cookies. These are used so we know where you are in a transaction. No personal details or browser usage is taken from you. You will need to check that you have enabled SSL. If you are in a corporate environment or behind a firewall, you will need to make sure that the firewall accepts connections for both http and SSL. Q. What should the screen resolution and font size be set to? A. maxi is best viewed with your browser resolution set to 800x600 pixels. If you're using Internet Explorer, set the font size to Small. If you're using NetScape Navigator, set the font size to 12 Point. Q. Why doesn't my back button work? A. maxi is a 'transaction environment'. This means that the navigation is controlled by maxi. Each page is dynamic, the browser logs your entry point and maxi keeps track of where you are in the transaction. There is no Back facility within a transaction. You will be asked to confirm all the details you have entered before you pay for or send the information. Use the buttons maxi provides on the right hand side of the screen to navigate through the transaction. Q. Why doesn't my Internet receipt screen print out properly? A. The print settings on your browser need to be changed. Internet Explorer should do this automatically. If you're using Netscape you have to select the "Black Text" option from the Page Setup menu. Q. Why won't the results from my search print out? A. In Netscape the cache settings need to be increased. Fom the Edit menu choose Preferences. From the list on the dialog box choose Advanced and then Cache. Set the disk cache to at least 15MB. You will need to close and restart your browser. If the problem still exists, increase the cache size again. Q. Is it safe to send my personal information over the Internet? A. maxi uses secure encryption to ensure that your personal information is kept safe. maxi only works if you have cookies turned ON. No private data is stored in maxi cookies". When you complete a transaction, don't forget your receipt! There is NO minimum charge. You will be charged only for the number of results screens you view (99 cents per screen including GST), up to the maximum spending limit you enter. Each screen will contain a maximum of 10 records. A summary of the results will be displayed. NOTE: You can print the results screen. If you are using Netscape, you must increase your cache size first, then close and restart your browser. Go to the maxi home page FAQ section for detailed instructions on how to do this. Once you find the person you are looking for, you can purchase the certificate.
