Hello Grant, I'm sorry to inform you that births in NSW are not searchable after 1918. Online at http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/Index/IndexingOrder.cgi/search?event=birth s, the NSW BDMs are available but births are only up to 1905. However, some years ago, they had the records indexed and put onto searchable CDs. Those are the ones that go up to 1918. After that, you need to have the signature of the person to get their birth, or if they are deceased, you need the permission of the nearest of kin, usually the spouse or a child - and it can be any of their children, or if they are all deceased, one of their children, etc. You can try searching for the marriages of the children you are looking for (click on the marriage section on the birth page) and then their deaths and check the parents names to make sure it is the same people you are looking for. You can then get their death certificates and it will tell you their age and place of birth, but it will be according to the memory or knowledge of the person giving the details of the death.
