    3. Hello Grant, Sherrie replied to your email with: > To my knowledge 'S-17' would not be an Australian code. Our codes are all 4 digits However, historically, each Australian state had its own postcode system e.g. my postcode was "W 15 Victoria" This meant that I lived in an area or suburb to the West of the capital, Melbourne, in area 15, which was Newport. The modern equivalent is "3015 Vic" So what we have here is an old postcode showing that the town (you think is "Largs" ) was situated south of a state capital in area 17. South of the capital of South Australia - Adelaide- is Largs Bay and Largs North, and the modern postcode for both is "5016 South Australia". close to your S 17. I think this may be the one you are seeking. Put up another message with the NAME plus "in Largs, South Australia ?", and you may get someone who has access to South Australian records, who might do a search for you. Regards Ada Ada Ackerly.
