Thank you to all those very kind listers who have passed on leads for Mary Jane CLARK. However her marriage and death certificates pose some tricky further questions. Firstly, I am aware of her marriage to William LOVE in 1868. MARRIAGE CERT. She was married in February 1868. It appears that as she was not yet 18 years of age, (perhaps she was born in 1851?) her step-father is stated as giving consent to the marriage. There are two marriage witnesses, John HATTON (or HUTTON) and Joshua DIBB, either of whom may have been the step-father. William LOVE was 45 and a stated widower (though I'm suspicious about that because of what I know of his background,) so there was a big age difference. DEATH CERT. She died in April 1918. Her age is given as 67 years. This gives more weight I suppose to a possible birth date in 1851. On her death certificate her father's surname is still given as CLARK but his first name is listed as John, but this could be a family mistake. Her mother's married name is still stated as Annie CLARK but her maiden name is given as BOLTON-POYNTON. In the family several children born to William and Mary Jane have BOLTON as one of their christian names, so it appears that it has some significance. Any further suggestions would be very welcome. Here is probably a bit more useless information, Henry Bolton & Ann Bolton (Bolton is listed as her maiden name as well)came to Aus I don't know when but settled in Queensland, possibly around Toowoomba and later in Brisbane. I have no more then 2 of their sons names George b ? & Peter b abt 1845 Co Sligo Ireland. I have more on Peter if you find a link. Do any of the children have a christian name of Politt, Poulet or something similar.?? Just nan once told me that Poulit was some sort of family name, it was her father Charles Boltons middle name. Cheers Karen. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mrs Noelle Oke" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 15, 2004 4:22 PM Subject: [AUST] Mary Jane CLARK - "thankyou" but still a mystery > > Thank you to all those very kind listers who have passed on leads for Mary > Jane CLARK.
