Hi all, In amongst some small photos from my father is one of a large headstone with wrought iron surround for John MORGANS died 25 February 1882 aged 60 years. There are other headstones around it, and what appears to be a paddock in the background. I don't know of any family connection, or why he had the photo. There is a Victorian death of a John MORGANS in 1882 aged 50, perhaps an error in the Pioneer Index transcription ? I have done some brief research and found the following. John Wheeler Morgans born c 1825 in Wales married Mary Phillips, also from Wales, in Hackney in 1852. He died in North Melbourne and was buried at the Melbourne General Cemetery. No known children. John was a carpenter, and had lived at 25 Peel Street. The informant was a friend William Davis of 62 Victoria Street, also the informant on Mary's death. The photo may have belonged to George Johnson who died at Heathmont, Melbourne a few years ago. If anyone can claim a connection I am happy to send a scan by email, not great quality as the original photo was very small, but the headstone is quite legible.
