    3. Folks Need some help I am trying to research a HUGHES family who lived in Tasmania some time betwen 1827 and 1842. They appear to have had a number of children. The ancestor in particular that I am searching for is William Henry Hughes, said to have been born on 9 Oct 1827, but no record can be found in the indexes. The father is a curious story. He is supposed to be WILLIAM HUGHES and the mother Anne McCoy. However, looking in the BDM and the Tasmania Family Link pages, the family is shown as having a Mary, Catherina, Franciscus, James and John. The story gets curious when you find that the father for Catherina and Franciscus is shown not as William but Gullielmo or Gullielmi (Spanish for William I believe) A marriage certificate listed William Hughes (the father) as a ships captain. I am told he was a shipbuilder. His son William Henry ended up in NSW and had a very large family. He is even supposed to have been baptised in 1828 in Sydney. My questions are: - anyone heard of this fellow or family ? - anyone know of how someone came to have a name Gullielmo in Tasmnania ? - anyone know who is responsible for makeing the "connections" in the Family Link web pages. - anyone point in the direction of what I can do next ? thanks in advance henry
