My Danish gtX2grandfather Johannes Carl KEMPF also went first to Queensland (1873), then he went to Victoria before ending up in NSW. His wife (Olavia Florentine nee Madsen) gave birth to their fifth daughter in Brisbane and died after the birth of the sixth in Victoria. His brother Ferdinand Kempf had emigrated to NSW a couple of years earlier and changed his name to Charles Campbell - he was one of the discoverers of copper at Cobar. Johannes Carl sometimes called himself John Campbell. One of Johannes Carl's gtgrandmothers was Maren BRUUN - I wonder whether the surnames BRUHN and BRUUN are interchangeable. I shall ask on the Denmark Rootsweb List. For anyone interested, the Rootsweb DK-List is fantastic. Happy Christmas from wet but mild London, Karen
