Dear list, I have found this link in my travels and it is absolutely brilliant if you are trying to find places in Prussia around the 1870's. The maps are the most detailed I have seen and print out beautifully. Through this site I was able to locate some obscure towns I had only seen references to on passenger lists. The link is: http://www.library.wisc.edu/etext/ravenstein/ You need to download the index file for the part of the alphabet you are interested in. From that locate the map number and grid reference. Then download the correct map (they are quite big files) and when it is downloaded, open it and find the correct section from the grid reference. It is quite a time consuming exercise, but well worth the effort! Have fun, and merry Christmas, Kay
