    1. Inquest finding - suffocated

    3. Morning everybody. On a hunch I looked into the Inquest Microfiche and found one of my mysteries. Cause of death was noted as suffocated. Now I looked around a bit, and there appeared to be either the description of an event/accident, or a medical condition which would account for the actual cause of death. In this case there was neither. I did note the reference number, and wonder if I go to the PROV can they arrange for me to view the actual report, which may give more details. Are there other avenues to explore? It appears she was not admitted to hospital, and there was no 'suicide' notation. She was a young married woman, and this occurred in 1880. cheers, Nandina

    3. Hello Nandina, Well done on your hunch. Sounds like an interesting case. Yes you can get the inquest papers from the PRO in Melbourne. Be in there well before 10.30 to order them and they should be in around 2.30 for viewing and copying. There should be a statement from the person who found her, a doctor who certified the death and probably a police report if a constable was called. Might even be one from the husband. Good luck, Regards, Mary of Melbourne FOSTER, Coventry >Omeo/Aust - PRITCHARD,Coventry>Aust GEOFFREY,Bloomsbury, Middlesex>Aust - ORCHARD, Warminster, Wiltshire>Aust STUART,Glasgow, Lanark >Aust - EDWARDS,Staffordshire, England>Aust GREATZ,NSW>Aust - PFITZNER, Prussia>Aust MULVIHILL, Co.
