BDM records are a State function . Some indexes for NSW , Victoria and Western Australia are on line . Australian census docs has never been kept until our last census . Even if they had been wouldnt have helped you as usually a 100 yr embargo on such records If their childrens names were what you say none married in NSW to 1955 Suggest you get copy of their marriage cert as this should give you names of parents and were born and will give you a starting point . www.bmd.nsw.gov.au > historic docs You can order on line from the registry or get copy from either of the 3 transcription agents for around $9 less .
