    1. Auckland death record
    2. Mari and Brian Walker
    3. For a few years I have had the death record of my great-x-uncle who died in the Auckland Hospital on 22 or 23 June 1880. I am now starting to write up some of the HART family history and it just struck me - I think I have an answer to my questions. David HART died in the Auckland Hospital on 23 June 1880 (although the death record states 22 June). The name of the Medical Practitioner is not given, just Medical Officer of RMS "Australia". Now here is what I think is the answer but can anyone help me with my suggestion please. The death record says 'from Sydney', but the Auckland Hospital register states his address as Wellington. If David came from Sydney, would it have been on the RMS "Australia"? I know the above sounds silly in that it has taken me so long to think of this, but can anyone tell me anything about the RMS "Australia"? Also, what would have been in Wellington c1880. Can anyone give me any background to Wellington prior to that time. Ever hopeful of solving one of the mysteries of this family.
