Hello Grahame, I find the quickest way of obtaining birth certificates in Victoria is through the following Maxi web site. Full cost is $17 this includes postage. But you need a credit card. In Victoria I find delivery is usually within 3 days. http://www.maxi.com.au/ Under the "Please Choose A Transaction" heading you'll find "Apply for a Birth, Death or Marriage Certificate".
