Does anyone know of an episode at the Female factory at Bathurst c1840 where the inmates rioted one Sunday morning and many of the women escaped. "many women escaped, a few were caught, a few gave themselves up, some were taken prisoners with bushrangers & some were never caught." I was reading an account in a diary and wondered if the actual date is known? Names mentioned at Bathurst are: Mary JAGGERS Matron of the Factory John JAGGERS her husband Micky Delaney - Policeman Bob the Pieman Rose Clancy, inmate Same diary.
