Good evening all, It has been over a year since I posted my same query but I thought I'd try again. My great grandmother was born in 1862, supposedly, in Steiglitz in Victoria, and yet I an find no record of her birth. I have the Pioneers Index (if only my CD drive would work) and she is not there. I have also requested a certificate and paid for a failure which is very frustrating. Her marriage certificate says that her parents were John Butler and Sarah Grant but her death certificate says her Dad was John Collins and mother, Sarah, nothing else. Grrrrrr Fred Waller was a great help to me about the history of Steiglitz and his friend, Gary Luke gave me the contact. They think that Catherine was simply not registered but I am wondering if there are Church records I could consult. Catherine was married to John Thomas Harvey, my Dad's grandpa. There was a child who died in a well in the 1860's in Steiglitz with the surname of Harvey, so should I get the inquest details? Any help and advice appreciated.
