Hello Robert Sister Theresa ELLIOTT, who is assisting me in the research of the WYNNE Family in Victoria, says in her short story on the family: " Anne WYNNE married John CHAMBERS on Sunday 30 April 1854 in the Catholic Chapel Ballarat, which was on the site of the present St Alipius Catholic Church." --- " The marriage was celebrated by Father Matthew DOWNING, an Augustine priest, who had arrived in Ballarat in the late 1852 as Ballarat's population continued to swell. He erected a tent church and named the parish St Alipius, after a 4th century companion of St Augustine." ------- "When Father DOWNING was leaving the parish in the mid 1854 ----- he was given 300 sovereign which he returned to the people to roof their timber and canvas church." A number of their children where baptised/buried there but no further description is given. I hope this is helpful as she spent a lot of time researching the family history. Theresa can be contacted at: elliottt@one.net.au HOWEVER, her mother has just died in Western Australia and she may not be available at the moment.
