Perhaps you're not aware that Dad, Warren Rosenlund, passed away late June. He so enjoyed his internet research and helping others by email with Scandinavian ancestry. My brother Paul (see address above) will now do our family research. This email address will soon be gone. Hello all A friend has asked if anyone has come across the surname MOUAT the family lived at Batlow, NSW. I would appreciate any help. Thank You Hazel
I'm seeking information regarding my gg grandparents Thomas and Jane Wilson. They arrived in Port Phillip on the 1st May, 1840 aboard the "China". Thomas was designated a farm servant and Jane a house maid, both were from Nottingham in England, could read and write. They were bought here as 'Bounty Immigrants' by John Marshal, Australian Emigration Agent of Burchin Lane, Cornhill, London. The only trace I have is that they had a son Henry, my g grandfather, born at Melbourne in 1848. Henry married my g grandmother Elizabeth O'Sullivan in Sydney, Henry was a carrier/coachman. What I would like to know, is there a record or records of the places where John Marshall placed these 'Bounty Immigrants'? Any info will be gratefully received. Thanks Neville.
Dear Listers Whilst on the subject of the name KEARNS I thought I would see if anyone may be researching James KEARNS who married Jane HYNES nee SHAW in Longford, Tasmania in 1863. Jane was born Forres, Scotland and arrived in Australia in 1859 with her son Alexander age 2 years. James was a convict born John Kelly, Dublin, Ireland, sentenced to 7 years, but it appears he changed his name to James KEARNS at some time during his extended sentencing. He was 25 years of age when sentenced in 1844, was Roman Catholic and could read a little. James & Jane had 2 boys Thomas & William. I would like to hear from anyone who may have information or be connected to this family. Thank you Joan -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Hi Dianna, Richard "KIERNAN" who arrived aboard the PILOT married Catherine RYAN registered 1819, then appears to have re-married an Ann NOWLAN in 1831. He is with wife Catherine on the 1828 Census aged 40 years - born C<1788> The 1788 birth time frame matches with his age of 29 years old when he arrived in the Colony (PORT JACKSON) in 1817 aboard the PILOT as a convict. Both marriages Church Of England registered. This Richard supposedly born about 1788, yours died aged 61 registered in 1859, putting his birth time frame about 1798. Either they are two different men or his death age is out and therefore married at least three times between about 1819 - 1855. The marriage in 1855 was Catholic registered. He arrived in Sydney aboard the "Pilot" to start his sentence. On 19 June, 1822 he was assigned to Joseph Welsh of Argyle and on 28 February, 1823 to Francis Pendergast of Windsor. He was granted ticket-of-leave 30/190. According to convict records he was married to Anne Nowlan by Rev. Samuel Marsden at Parramatta in 1838 when he was 45 and she 20. Anne was also a convict having been sentenced to 7 years transportation in county Antrim in 1827. She arrived in Sydney aboard the "Elizabeth" on its second voyage out and was on a bond at the time of the marriage. In the NSW BDMs there is the following record: V18315316 3B/1831 KERNAN RICHARD NOWLAN ANN CB V1831940 15/1831 KERNAN RICHARD NOWLAN ANN CB CB stands for St. Johns C of E. Is it possible that Richard changed his name after he gained his ToL? Neville
Blank Hi List I'm doing researh into RICHARD KEARNS who married MARY ANN WEBB in 1871 at Castle Hill. RICHARD was born in Parramatta in 1848 to RICHARD KERNS/KEARNS and ANN NOWLAN. Both Parents are buried in St. Patricks Cemetery Parramatta. RICHARD (senior) died in 1859 and I only have a burial transcript for him not a proper death certificate so I'm not sure if he was a convict or not. Richard and Mary Ann's children were born in Bathurst/O'Connell area and I am descended form ADA VICTORIA KEARNS their daughter who was born in 1880.
