The Age, Saturday Sept 2 2006 has an article by Karen Kissane on a diary being sold which provides accounts of the Eureka rebellion. The diary was written by Samuel Lazarus (who is also alleged to be the foreman at Ned Kelly's trial) and there is an extract of the day of the rebellion in the article in the age. The extract provides a first hand account of what Lazarus saw at the stockade, and is well worth viewing. Apparently the State Library has been fortunate enough to obtain a copy of the diary (which is now being offered for sale). The article is well worth reading and provides a heart-wrenching account of the scene of the wounded and deceased. Raffaello Carboni also wrote of events at Ballarat in a letter to Wm. H.
