HAT- www.hat-archive.com has a 16000 entry database of people associated with the Australian theatre between the years 1860-1960. It also has photos and articles about Australian Theatre History. If you had ancestors involved in the Australian Theatre, you may find them at HAT- www.hat-archive.com. This months updates; The database ( after almost being lost) has now got 16000 entries, an addition of 200 since the last update. I have added an article about the Maskelyne and Devant company that visited Australia in 1908. I also added a couple of pictures. I am currently looking for people who worked with the WEA or Brisbane Repertory company during the 1930s-1950s, I have been given some pictures from the period and would like to have the people in them identified. If you can help, please email me. I now have a live journal at http://theotherhat.livejournal.com/ Mark St Leon, Australia's famous circus historian, is presenting a five part series on 'Australia's Travelling Showpeople', through the WEA in Sydney. Please ring the WEA if you are interested in attending any sessions. Other than that, please have a look at the site, and don't forget my book on Houdini which is available through Ginninderra Press at http://www.ginninderrapress.com.au, just search for Houdini. Thanks for your time, good luck with your research and I look forward to your visit Leann www.hat-archive.com HAT- History of Australian Theatre

Hello I am hoping someone maybe able to tell me whether St. Ube's Salt was a product of England or early Australia. A reference I have come across is that it was used to pack sliced cured beef for import overseas. As most of you would know I am compiling a history on Lawson and this reference appears in a draft of the families history. Regards Hazel
A huge thank you for those who helped me with the Landells family. Very much appreciated. Dear Terry, Just like the English counties we have States and Territories, eight of them, and each keep their own records. Some have BDM on CD, some on fiche, and they vary in their years available for publication. I have some of them, mainly for New South Wales. New South Wales have their BDM on line, births to 1905, marriages to ?? 1954, and deaths to ?? 1974. Our privacy laws prevent publication of some material. The Society of Australian Genealogists have a CD with about 3.5 million entries that is a combination of 19 different societies in Australasia records. It is just an index. On line for deaths try "Ryerson Index" which is an index by the DPS of death notices from over 120 newspapers, once again varying times for each paper, but for Sydney 1972 to present. Try also www.records.nsw.gov.au for archives in New South Wales. Sincerely,Bill > HI ALL > How can I get BDM? Hello All. An 1840 edition of Colonel William Light's map of 'The District Of Adelaide, South Australia, As Divided Into Country Sections' is now online at the MAPCO website. You can view it here: The District Of Adelaide, South Australia, As Divided Into Country Sections 1840 http://archivemaps.com/mapco/adel1840/adelaide.htm This is a later edition of the 1839 edition of this map already on display, and it records the names of later purchasers of land across the Adelaide plains area. This map is the third of Colonel Light's plans of Adelaide to be displayed on the MAPCO website. The three Light maps now on display date from 1837,1839, & 1840, and will be of particular interest to South Australian researchers. Remember that MAPCO is a free access website, and will remain so. Enjoy these fascinating maps! Kind regards, David Hale, Adelaide, South Australia. MAPCO : Map And Plan Collection Online http://archivemaps.com
Hello listers I am asking for help from a Victorian lister, with a look-up if possible when they are at the archives, for an entry into Victoria of Mary Elliott, age 18 who arrived on the ship "Clara" April 1863. The book number is 13A and the page 214, please. Any information shown for Mary would be greatly appreciated. I would be happy to return the favour with a look up at our NSW Records office if needed. Thank you for any help. Joan

Dear Barrie, See if you can find the name on www.records.nsw.gov.au which is the site for State Records, the archives for New South Wales. That will give you a ship name and you can carry on from there. Of course if he was born c1895 then he must have arrived c1930 and in that case you will need to go to www.naa.gov.au which is the National Archives, and they took over immigration after Federation in 1901, but took some time to control the Records. Sincerely,Bill > Hi listers > > Looking for a Roland Ernest Rawlinson my wifes Uncle who emigrated to
Hi listers Looking for a Roland Ernest Rawlinson my wifes Uncle who emigrated to Australia around 1830 onwards from Northumberland (born c. 1895). Any info will be greatly appreciated. Regards Barrie (UK citizen living in Spain)
