Does anyone have any clues? Kay Podmore Bensville NSW

    2. Alan Hutchins
    3. Hi, I've recently discovered that an ancestor of mine emigrated to Australia in the 1920/1930s. As I'm new to this list, I haven't a clue how to go about tracing their whereabouts. The family in question is ASHBY, Thomas & Florence Jane (formerly HUTCHINS) plus several unidentified children. They were married in Middlesex, UK, in 1910. Family lore has it that they came to either Melbourne or Adelaide in the 1920s or 30s. Can any kind subscribers offer any suggestions about how I might begin trying to trace them? Regards, Alan Hutchins Western Australia

    1. CROSBY-McDONALD
    2. Robert Bateman
    3. The whereabouts of this family connection are sort, Jim CROSBY - he was born in Halewood, nr Liverpool, Lancashire, England probably around 1890++. He married Ann(i.e.) nee ASTBURY(or Stanley) in either West Derby(a suburb of Liverpool),or Gateacre (originally a village near Liverpool, now a suburb ) around 1909-1910. They emigrated circa 1912. Annie's mother was Sarah Ann(e) Astbury/Woods/Stanley (two marriages) Her father was ? (but step father was George Stanley of Frodsham, Cheshire). They had one son, James born 18/7/1911,Died Feb 1975 who married Winifred McDonald in Australia in 1935. The family home for many years was Auburn Road, Hawthorn, Melb. Ann(ie) was my grandfather's sister and corresponded with him and subsequently (after his death) with my mother. WINIFRED (McDONALD) CROSBY wrote to my mother sometime in the late 1970s-early 1980s giving family news and saying she would be spending some time with her son Norman at Markeri Street, Mermaid Waters, Qld. and would write when she got home to Melbourne. My mother wrote a couple of times,( when no letter arrived from Winifred), to the address where she had been staying, but her letters were returned 'Gone Away' or something similar. I believe that the address in Mermaid Waters may have been simply a holiday apartment or temporary accommodation. My reason for trying to contact the descendants of Jim and Annie CROSBY is simply that I would like to bring this branch of the my mother's part of my combined, rudimentary Family Tree Thanks for your time, Regards, Val Edwards <mailto:merlin@bryn-deri.freeserve.co.uk>merlin<mailto:merlin@bryn-deri.freeserve.co.uk>@bryn-deri.freeserve.co.uk THANK YOU Robert Bateman of Melbourne, Australia
