    1. Unity Cole c18?? Does anyone know her
    2. glenn woof
    3. Good morning List, I am helping a friend retype an old family history that was originally done on a typewriter about 15 years ago. Now some more information is coming to light in regard to the family but there are still a few broken twigs. One that has stumped us is, that in the original book, it was entered that Mary GUTSELL & James COLE had 13 children. To date we have only found 11 - namely 1 Isaac Cole 1843 2 Mary Eliza Cole 1845 3 Anne Elizabeth Cole 1847 4 Charlotte Louisa Cole 1849 5 Jane H. Cole 1851 6 James William Cole 1853 7 Josphine Cole 1856 8 Sydney Pinkerton John Thomas Cole 1858 9 Unity Cole 18?? 10 Emily Cole 1865 11 William George Cole 1867 Is there anyone connected to this family that would like to exchange data and does anyone know UNITY. We found a marriage of a Unity Cole in 1879 to a Juo FILSON. We have not ordered a transcription yet, as there are a few more roads to travel. As the COLE family in total, was a large one and they lived and populated well in the Brooklyn and Hawkesbury River district I am sure there must be someone on the list who might be connected. Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to read this message and hopefully I look forward to some favourable replies. Glenn gwoof@netspace.net.au

    3. Grahame, Ever looked at examples of this kind in the Sydney Morning Herald? Before the advent of email, most ads were distributed through what is called 'classified advertising'. Newspaper proprietors derive most of their income from PAID classified advertising as well as PAID display advertising. It is not a novel idea. For example, it is known to have been old-hat in the eighteenth century! (Gosh!) --You might have noticed signs on telegraph poles and other large signs erected along highways and on buildings and even on taxicabs. This is another form of PAID advertising.-- Long ago, when I was young, there were many advertisements for accommodation, jobs, cars, and so on in the papers. Where have you been? Margaret

    1. Inquest finding - suffocated
    2. nandina morris
    3. Morning everybody. On a hunch I looked into the Inquest Microfiche and found one of my mysteries. Cause of death was noted as suffocated. Now I looked around a bit, and there appeared to be either the description of an event/accident, or a medical condition which would account for the actual cause of death. In this case there was neither. I did note the reference number, and wonder if I go to the PROV can they arrange for me to view the actual report, which may give more details. Are there other avenues to explore? It appears she was not admitted to hospital, and there was no 'suicide' notation. She was a young married woman, and this occurred in 1880. cheers, Nandina

    3. Hello Nandina, Well done on your hunch. Sounds like an interesting case. Yes you can get the inquest papers from the PRO in Melbourne. Be in there well before 10.30 to order them and they should be in around 2.30 for viewing and copying. There should be a statement from the person who found her, a doctor who certified the death and probably a police report if a constable was called. Might even be one from the husband. Good luck, Regards, Mary of Melbourne FOSTER, Coventry >Omeo/Aust - PRITCHARD,Coventry>Aust GEOFFREY,Bloomsbury, Middlesex>Aust - ORCHARD, Warminster, Wiltshire>Aust STUART,Glasgow, Lanark >Aust - EDWARDS,Staffordshire, England>Aust GREATZ,NSW>Aust - PFITZNER, Prussia>Aust MULVIHILL, Co.
