    3. Hello Listers, Would someone be able to tell me how is it that one transcription service charges GST to overseas customers and the other one doesn't ? I am quite used to paying GST here in Canada but it is very frustrating to have different rules depending on where one shops. Is there a govt, brochure which outlines the regulations ,please? Robin . Ottawa.

However, from "Notorious Strumpets and Dangerous Girls" #643 on p. 521, I reckon the mother is the following convict: Ann ANDERSON convicted at Clare (no date shown); transported for 7 years for larcency. - Native Place: Waterford, Ireland - Trade: Country servant - Literacy: Cannot write - Age: 25 years in 1821 - Complexion: Dark - Hair: Brown - Eyes: Hazel - Colonial Experiences: 1812-25: Arrived in Van Dieman's Land from Sydney; - 11 Dec 1825, married to Thomas GREEN at Launceston - 24 Dec 1828: Free by Servitude, Drunk and disorderly: fined 5 shillings. Co. = County For purposes of controlling land titles the government divided the colony (true of all of them I think) into counties and parishes - neither of which are a lot of help to us, because we rarely come across them (except in areas where the term has been used for other administrative purposes: e.g. County of Cumberland meaning the greater Sydney area). So you need a map showing the counties - you should be able to get one from the Lands Department (whatever it's called these days) or possibly from http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/ (what used to be the Land Titles Office). I found a reference to a Parish of Dampier in County White - which may be the same thing - in the Parish Map Preservation Project (at http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/maps/pmap/ HTH -- Michael Saclier Historical & Genealogical Research Services Phone: +61 2 6281 4117 Fax: +61 2 6281 4118 E-mail: saclierm@spirit.com.au Mail: PO Box 431, Curtin ACT 2605

    3. Someone was sleuthing for the source of this virus. I think it may have been this list, could be wrong. I received the virus on Monday in a group of 3 messages. 1 = the Haha thingy 2 = a person to person message (mailing her today to check) abd 3 - mail returned, address not recogizes stuff. Now it has been suggested that the virus lurks in Daemon mailer ? correct name, and I have a feeling the Undeliverable message is run by them. Just advising. No, I didn't open it. Left even the email unopened, sandwiched it between a slab of read mails no longer required and hit the delete button. Did this as I was ready to log off. The delete folder os emptied eash time I log off, so I think all is cool. Oh - first I emptied my address book. Only keep a couple of 'group' addresses there, so no major drama to replenish it. Merry Christmas everyone, I hope it stays virus free in every way. cheers, Nandina
