Before Xmas someone was asking where Co. Dampier was in 1852. THe birth registration would have been listed as Co. Dampier as there would not have been any towns there then. As Mike S. advised NSW is divided into 141 Counties. Most counties are then further subdivided into parishes ( which have nothing to do with churches) Some towns in County Dampier are Bodalla; Central Tilba and Bermagui. "Government Schools of NSW 1848- 1998: 150 Years" published by the Dept of Education and Training has useful maps showing where all the Counties in NSW are. It also lists all the schools that are/were in each county. Also the alphabetical listing of each school includes the the county number. Besides the information about schools. I use this book to find where counties are, when I am doing land research. This book is availabe in many local libraries and is the most accessable way I know of finding out about counties short of a visit to the Land Titles Office. Elizabeth A. Roberts N.S.W. Hello all if someone would be so kind as to look up the following names for me..deaths post 1920 All SHOULD have father: John Punton, Mother: Mary Anne Rowling...but hey I could be wrong...would be the first time and won't be the last........I keep telling myself "negative research is valuable!" Alice Punton (born approx 1862) Elizabeth Punton (born approx 1863) Robert Punton (born approx 1859) Margaret J Punton (born approx 1854) Beatrice Punton - Found -She married Eli Windsor. They are my Gr Gr Gr grandparents. There is also a Mabel Punton on the list as well. She is born approx 1841. I suspect a sister of John or a cousin or something. father and mother could be anything. The entire punton clan came out on the "empire of peace" in Jun 1864. Anyone have any info on this ship? Background pics etc. Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone!!! Just wondering if there is anyone out there researching Broderick. My husband's g g grandfather was Henry Broderick . One of the founding settlers of Echuca. He was married to Catherine Kenefick. They had a daughter Penelope in 1857. I looked it up on Maxi.com. They had Catherine' surname as Kenedy. The vic records on microfiche in the library have the surname as kenefick, penelope's marriage certificate lists her mother's maiden name also as kenefick. Looked it up on the igi on the net, and someone has submitted a birth of a William Henry Broderick to a Henry Broderick and Catherine Kenedy. Now I am confused!!!! Peace and happiness to everyone for the new year wendy taylor

I have a photo of the children and teacher at Mandagery Primary School around 1915. Mandagery is just outside of Parkes, N.S.W.. The teacher was Ethel Spicer, who married Dick Evans. Some of the children are Pearl Parr, Albert Hall, Gladys Blades, A boy Parr, Reg Dunn, Rose Hall, "Burly" Blades and Jim Hall. If anyone has an interest in any of these children I will send a scanned photo. Hi List, Just wondering if someone could give me a web site for shipping and passenger lists for ships coming from England and Ireland to Australia mid 1800's. Thank you. Regards Roy
Hi Roy, There are index fiche for births 1900-1905, and marriages and deaths 1900-1914 and 1915-1919. Some genealogical societies and libraries have them. If you want certificates from 1900 on you will have to apply to the Registrar and pay about $28.50 each, see http://www.justice.tas.gov.au/bdm/index.htm for details. For pre 1900 register copies, many major libraries and societies have microfilm copies of the registers, and you can print a copy for about fifty cents to a dollar, the following site has details of most places which hold the microfilms, http://www.vision.net.au/~tashistory/resource/bdms.htm At 12:27 AM 30/12/00 +1100, you wrote: >Hi Listers, > First of all Happy New year to everyone, and thank you > for your help during this year. > > One final ask for this year/ Can records be got for bdm > in Tasmania after 1899.
