Are you recording details about isolated individuals or a record of events in your ancestors' lives. A still born child would have effected the whole family for most of a year and maybe longer.. A particular case - Last year a friend asked if I could find the burial site of her stillborn child from about 40 years ago. She was ill for a few months after and the child had been whisked out of her hands at birth and buried. The doctor advised that she would not be able to have any more children so they adopted the next. Fortuntely the doctor was wrong and she had three more of her own children. For 40 years she has been living with her memory of it and the question of what had been done. Gary =================== Gary Luke feraltek@zeta.org.au fax +61-2-9519-9907 Sydney, Australia
Dear Don, Please have a look at www.records.nsw.gov.au. Go to the bottom right hand of the main page. You will see a magnifying glass. Click on that and you will be asked to enter a search term. You can search according to Government Department or under Keyword. Please keep in mind however, that this type of search will NOT take you to the document level. What it will do, is give you a suitable group or series of records which may help. Thank you, Selena -----Original Message----- From: DMJMJS@alphalink.com.au <DMJMJS@alphalink.com.au> To: AUSTRALIA-L@rootsweb.com <AUSTRALIA-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, 3 January 2001 22:08 Subject: DMR >Happy new year to all. > >Can anyone tell me if records were kept of dept of Main Roads in Nsw of >people who would have worked for them around 1900's and also records of >Knappers ( someone that breaks stones into small pieces ). > >Thanks. > >Don >from Melbourne > > >==== AUSTRALIA Mailing List ==== >Subscribe to the AGI (Australian Genealogy Information) Bulletin >A Free Service for Australian Family Historians >http://www.southernx.com.au/ > >============================== >Get Free Access to all Ancestry.com Databases from Dec 7 until Dec 21!http://www.ancestry.com/home/celebrate/freeaccess.htm?sourcecode=736
Hello All, Some advice please, fellow researchers... I recently found out that the father of my ggggrandfather,George Montgomery who migrated here in 1840 from Londonderry, was an army sergeant, presumably also in Londonderry. How can I follow this info up? I have his name, Alexander Montgomery. Lyn......... unfortunately there are quite a number of people who just don't realise that disabled people exist in this world....... Just ignore it......... There are too many 'Garry's' in this world that would'nt have a clue what being disabled is about. Dear All, This is a general question. Do we include in out family tree children who died at birth eg. still born. These children are given full burials these days! I just wanted to know what everyone thought. Kathy The Patch Victoria Australia.

How can you reply to someone like that! You do not know their position. I for one, due to ill health cannot now go to libraries etc., as much as I wish I could. We all try to help each other and I don't think Judy deserved such a "RESPECTFUL' reply. Hi listers. Has anyone on the list when researching Irish ancestors used the Irish method of naming children as a tool in their research. If so, has this been successful in tracking back the families name. I refer to the Irish manner of naming children, e.g. 1st daughter after the paternal grandmother 2nd daughter after the maternal grandmother first sone after the paternal grandfather 2nd son after the maternal grandfather etc. I am hoping someone can clear up something. Is the patneral grandmother (etc etc) referring to the grandmother of the new born, or the grandparent of the child's parents. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has used this method regards Denise ###################################### Denise Marriott McMahon - ex Melbourne 21 years Brisbane Queensland - Searching - CONWAY - County Clare and N.E.
