Ernest was married in 1895 at Leichhardt,NSW to Janet Priscilla Ann RANDALL. I don't know if Ernest came here with is parents or not?At the time of marriage he was living at Redfern.I can't find shipping records for him. I can't find any datails on how long he had been in the colony on his death certficate, because he went missing in 1900 and his body was never found so he isn't registered. Anyone have any ideas to find out more about his arrival and parents arrival if they came. Kind Regards, Vanessa

    3. Does it really matter? We must be realistic about such matters. Nothing can change what beliefs a person followed in life. If this is a symbolic thing that the members of the LDS church follow does it really matter to anyone else? Any one who delves into the records published by the LDS will see the date on the entry and understand that this has come about AFTER the person's death. Mary O'Brien (C of E)

    3. Hello Denise. Yes it was our first kidnapping although there have been others since. It was horrific and happened when a Hungarian migrant Stephen Leslie Bradley (don't know his real name) captured the little boy Grahame Thorne, and held him for ransom, because the Thornes had won one of our first large lotteries, a prize of $200,000, which was a very large amount of money in those days. That was in 1960. He put him into the boot of his car where Grahame expired. It was interesting to find the way they traced the murderer through dog hairs on the rug in which Grahame had been wrapped. Bradley made a hasty getaway and was found on board the ship 'Himalaya' in Colombo and extradited to Sydney where he stood trial and was sentenced to life. He had to be kept away from other prisoners as they have their own code of ethics and child murder was not accepted. Bradley worked in the library at Goulburn Gaol and died of a heart attack in 1968 at the age of 45. 3. From my records, I have a copy of the front page of Brisbane's "Courier Mail," for August 17 1960, which describes the discovery of a child's body believed to be 8 1/2 year old Graeme Thorn. If you have access to libraries with microfilms, it should be possible to search newspapers around that date to find all that was published and the trial later. Jim

    3. Hello all, I wonder if SKS would be able to check the deaths in Western Australia for a person named Blair MCNEILLY as I feel he is a rellie of mine. It would possibly be within the last 20 years as a cousin had a letter from him saying he was related to our side of the family but the letter has been lost. I would like to find out more details about him to find where he fits into the family. Thank you for any help. Nancy Martin Phillip Island Vic.

    3. Hi Hazel, I believe that in 1961 a Stephen BRADLEY was sentenced to 'life' for the murder of 8 year old Graeme THORN. Graeme's parents had won a substantial lottery prior to that and Bradley could see a quick dollar. There does not seem to be much on the 'net' - perhaps newspapers will give the full story. 3. Can anyone tell me whether or not it would be possible to try to obtain a death record for 1835 in England? Lucy Hart died on 8 March 1835 in Hulme, Wilmslow, Cheshire and I would be very pleased to find death information on her. She was christened twice, records of which I have and which were taken from the Manchester Cathedral Parish Register of Baptisms 1819-1866. The family were Wesleyan. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who could offer me assistance in this matter. 1. Shipping records, c1820
    2. Mari and Brian Walker
    3. Is it possible to view shipping records for the period 1818 to perhaps very early 1821? I am seeking to verify (if possible) whether or not my great-x-grandparents travelled from England to New York during this period. I have several family records which state that their first living child was born in New York State in March 1821. They were back in England by April 1825. If this is possible, and there is someone who could do this for me, I would be very grateful if you could contact me privately for further information.
