Jason is writing a history of Lt Holman, the blind traveller who journeyed throughout Australia in the 1830's, and Halloran was a friend of Holman's. Hello Listers I am searching for any descendants or information on Mary STOCKTON as follows: Mary Stockton born about 1846 in England, [have not been able to find where in UK] Married Jesse ELSTON in Mudgee in 1864; he was born Stepney, St. Marys, Whitechapel in 1826 and arrived in NSW Australia 1860. He was a butcher. Mary was about 18 when she married Jesse and her guardians were James Farrant and Sarah Farrant Neate. Mary had previously had a son William James in 1863, father unknown and William died in 1864 whether he was the child of Jesse is not known. Mrs. Neate was a witness at the birth of William together with an Elizabeth Ann Jane who was a close friend. Mary & Jesse ELSTON had 4 children - Samuel Joseph, Elizabeth Jessie, Emily Rosetta and William. Jesse died in 1873 and Mary remarried to John Frederick SMITH in Mudgee 1874 and had 6 more children - Clara, Percival Sydney, Thomas Walter, Albert George, Jack A and Ernest Reuben. He was responsible for helping to bring out my grandparents and their eight children they were Charles and Alice Smith from Co Meath in Ireland the year 1880 on the Northampton.
