Hi Guys gr grandfather was Hugh Cambell born abt. 1862-1867 (depends on which certificate you read) and cannot find where he was born, apparently Vic. Australia. His father on his wedding and death certificate was Donald Cambell "blacksmith" mother unknown. All Hughs children put a "P" in their name, (except Frederick who was actually registered with a "P"). But Hugh was illerterate, so spelling wasn't an issue. Hugh married MaryAnn Jospehine Cox who was born in Middlesex. Her parents' were Nicholas James Cox born Ireland and Mary Ann Suthingwood who was born in London. Donald Campbell is named as a blacksmith on all Hughs records. Thanks Fran :-)
Help Am still looking for connections to our families, and how a am tired of hitting those walls. Thomas Samuel Mitchell born NZ 1867 (registered as Samuel Thomas) married Louise Flegg in 1902 (she is another very long story!) AUS Thomas' parents were Henry Wills Mitchell born England abt. 1830 and Elizabeth Ann Hawkes born England abt. 1834 They married in Geelong in 1855. Still trying to find where Henry and Elizabeth died tried NZ to no avail (they still do not have BDM online searching available) Families "stories" (haven't we all be led astray with "stories" -myths, or complete fabrication or just "white lies") Say Henry went bankrupt in NZ know Thomas 2 sisters were in Australia with him but believe his brothers stayed in NZ. Can't find any record of Henry and Elizabeth dying or where buried. Henrys' parents were Andrew Mitchell and Grace Wills. Elizabeths' parents were Thomas Hawkes and Ann Maria Hodges Another family has the Hawkes as tailors to the king (they have been for 250 years) still unsure where they fit in. Thomas Mitchell is pictured with some of the "Heidelberg School of artists" (Condor, Roberts etc.) but we cannot find if Thomas was as an original before his death in 1916. Thanks for reading all of this, Fran :-(
Hi all, Could someone tell me which list covers Binalong near Yass please? Thanks Jan
