Dear Paul, My mother's ID card is not dated however if has the information that there are also 3 children for ration books. I do not know when ration books began but the 3 children is some indication as I am an only child. My parents took in 2 Welsh evacuees who arrived in October 1940 and were with us until March 1947 so the card I have fits that period. My guess is that they were issued possibly when the Japanese entered the war, at the latest. I did not realise they were issued as late as 1951. Hi listers, I would like to thank everyone who answered my query regarding war time ID cards as there were too many of you to reply to individually.
