    1. Mariners/Passenger Lists Updated.Want to Volounteer?
    2. Joan Fawcett
    3. Mary Ann Warner has just uploaded new crew and passenger lists into Sydney 1854 - 1879. http://mariners.records.nsw.gov.au/shipdate.htm Mary Ann's work is voluntary, and is hosted by the NSW Government. You can view the transcribed lists, as well as the ORIGINAL passenger/crew list. This is a brilliant resource for Australian genealogy, and Mary Ann welcomes anyone who has a spare hour who would like to help transcribe a list. They are easy to do, and Mary Ann helps you with the process. So if you have been considering volounteering for a project, Mary Ann would love some help. There are already a team of volounteers helping, but extra hands would be great. If you wish you can pick a month of any year where you think family arrived, and just transcribe a certain number of ships if you wish. Ship's arrived at Sydney from both intercolonial and international ports. These passengers and crew are arriving from overseas as well as from interstate. They also include stoways, deaths at sea etc. The lists include the occupation and ages of seamen. If May Ann can complete the pre 1900 era, she is going to move on to ships after this time, so it is to the benefit of all that htesse lists are made available on time. best wishes Jenny Fawcett

    3. Could some kind person please check to see the names of all of the offspring of Grace Hannah Cartledge/Cartlidgeand of James Allender of Ballarat/ Ballarat East. Grace and James didn't marry until 1922 but she had a number of children before that date with no father listed. I am trying to make sense of the big mess I have as far as the children of this union go, and I need help to sort them out. I suspect that James may have already been married to someone else when he and Grace began living together, so if any other children's names with him as father pop up, could I please have them too. Just in case he merged his brood with Grace's. Thanks you so much, :) Lyn --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). 1. Learning the craft of genealogy online
    2. Kylie Veale
    3. Fellow genealogists, Have you ever used the Internet to learn about genealogy methods and resources? Taken a genealogy course online? Read some 'how to' articles? Then I would like to hear from you. I am an Australian Ph.D. student who is currently writing a book chapter for an academic Virtual Learning Environment publication - my chapter is about using the Internet for genealogical education. I would therefore love to hear from you, fellow genealogists, about any Internet-based content you've used for genealogy education. This includes online courses (free or fee), how-to's, articles/columns, newsgroups, BBS, chat, mailing lists, forums, or even personal web pages that publish learning material - anything online that helps you in learning the craft of genealogy. Your comments on the following is of utmost interest: What are your favourite learning outlets on the Internet? How often do you use them? Can or did you find what you needed online? What are your learning successes? What could be better? What do you look for in genealogical learning on the Internet? If you would like to participate, your comments are extremely welcome. Please send your comments to me directly at [email protected] before Saturday 1st May 2004. I thank you in advance for your participation in this academic research. Kylie Veale P.S. Names and email addresses will be protected and are therefore not included in the publication. Copies of the paper will be made available to interested participants on request, after the book has been published. ----------------------------------------------- Kylie J. Catherine married Michael Storen in Adelaide in 1918. There is some confusion regarding her surname. I believe she was the daughter of James and Bridget Fanning. Her marriage to Michael may have been a second marriage (hence the Gurrin confusion). Any help to clarify the records would be appreciated. I have a written transcript of the marriage certificate but her name is not clear.
