Few Tickets of Leave were issued this year,because the Government decided to suspend the issue of these Tickets while reforming their system of isse "Government Notice. Colonial Secretary's Office May 2nd 1826 The Impositions which are practised in Order to obtain Tickets of Leave, and the Facility with which Individuals, of the worst Character, obtain Certificates, as "honest, sober, and industrious" Persons, have rendered it necessary to suspend the Issue of 'Ticekts of Leave" until some Arrangements more effectual than the present can be established.Applications for Ticekts of Leave cannot, therefore, be acted on, until the present Regulations are Revised. William Cox born 1764 winbourne dorset england died 1837 buried at St Mathews Church,Windsor,NSW ensign 117th foot and 68th foot appointed lieutenant NSW corp's sept 28 1797 arrived on the Minerva jan 1800 I guess he became a pastor at Brush Hills in the fields of Mars District and at Canterbury Vale in the Petersham ills area.before moving to the Hawkesbury District. He became a Justice of the peace and a Magistrate on oct 1810 Govenor Macquerie in 1814 requested him to build a road from Bathurst to Nepean River. In 1816 he obtained three land grants. His second marriage to Anna Blachford in jan 1821 d/o James Blachford they had four children. BLACHFORD is another spelling that is interchanged with Blatchford. I happened to be at home (in Tweed Heads) for that census, and made sure everyone I talked to gave permission, but none of them seemed to understand the importance of it before I nagged them.
