Just joined the Austin mail list and thought I would post my problem to see if anyone can help. My wife's ggrandmother was Cornelia Austin. She married Hiram Christler in LaSalle, Ill, Oct 11, 1855. Family tradition says that she was orphaned at a very young age and raised by an uncle (possible surname Becker. Believe she may be the Cornelia Austin living with parents, Thomas and Lydia, according to the 1850 Census for Waltham, LaSalle Co, Ill, enumerated on the 22nd day of Oct 1850.
