    1. DAVID AUSTIN OF SURRY CO., NC & BENJAMIN AUSTIN OF HARDIN CO., TN
    2. Pam Stone
    3. David AUSTIN of Surry Co., NC, I seriously am considering as the likely ancestor of my David Jones AUSTIN, b. 1841, MO, and would appreciate clues from other researchers of this line. David AUSTIN was recorded in Wilkes Co., NC, in 1790, and patented land in Surry [recorded in Wilkes] on Butler Creek on the south fork of the Mitchell River. Steven [sic] AUSTIN also made a land entry for acreage on Christian's Creek, though William AUSTIN actually ended up with the land. [I have abstracts of these entries if others in this line want them.] I have been told the following things on this David and his children: David AUSTIN Sr. d. 1823 in Surry Co., NC, or Boone Co., MO, and final settlement of his estate was in 1826. His wife was Elizabeth [UNKNOWN], and his children were Benjamin, John, Robert, Peter, Mary BRADLEY of Christian Co., KY, and Elizabeth BRADLEY of Boone Co., MO. [This is supposed to be from Janet Austin Curtis.] Benjamin AUSTIN is said to have m. Sarah HARRIS, dau. of David's next-door-neighbor, Dabney HARRIS. Does anyone have a marriage record? Two of the reported sons of David, Robert AUSTIN & Peter AUSTIN I have found on the 1817 Tax List of Howard Co., MO [from which Boone was formed.] Benjamin AUSTIN reportedly was on the 1830 Boone Co., MO census. Anyone have record of that? In the 1820's and 1830's in Boone Co., I find record of the following marriages: Benjamin AUSTIN [Jr.?] m. Elizabeth AUSTIN 1826 Hannah AUSTIN m. James SHARP 1827 Joel AUSTIN m. Sally AUSTIN 1827 Dabney AUSTIN m. Jane FREEMAN 1836 William W. AUSTIN m. Jane GORDON 1839 I have been told that John AUSTIN, son of David Sr. m. in Madison Co., KY. Anyone have a record of that? Wm. W. AUSTIN is said to be on the 1850 Carroll Co., MO census with his family. Was he a grandson of David? Or Peter, Robert and John AUSTIN all patented land in Boone Co., and I have records of that that I will share if anyone needs them. There was a Benjamin AUSTIN said to have died 1848 in Boone Co., and he may be the grandson of David [or unrelated], I don't know. Anyone have a record of that Benjamin's will? What I do know for certain is that Benjamin & Sarah G. AUSTIN were on the Hardin Co., TN 1850 census; he was 63, she was 58, and they were both born in NC. Benjamin appears on the same page with a Samuel AUSTIN; they are both blacksmiths. Was that a son of Benjamin Sr.? Anyone have this Benjamin Sr.'s will? Sarah AUSTIN was still alive in 1870 when my David Jones AUSTIN first appears on the census with his wife and family. I have not located Benjamin and Sarah in MO in any documents, and if anyone has records of them between about 1800 and 1850, I would appreciate your sharing. Does anyone have any knowledge of any of these names in this line? I have heard speculation that David was the son of John AUSTIN, Jr. Is that the John AUSTIN that d. 1760 in Lunenburg Co., but whose will describes his property as being in Halifax? The record I show of that John AUSTIN names his wife, Hannah, and children John, Vallentine, Stephen, Joseph and Richard. Richard AUSTIN that d. 1759 Lunenburg named sons Thomas and Euzriah [Uriah?], and Elizabeth VERNON, Sarah JOICE, Samuel DAVID, Thomas JOHN, Perin ALDAY, and David REESE. One of the witnesses to Richard's will was Nathan AUSTIN. [I have copies of these records if anyone needs them. In short, I have no will, deed, Bible record, etc. of ANY AUSTIN that shows a son David. Does anyone? Is it just me, or are there a lot of AUSTINs in records recorded as ASTON, ASTIN, ALSTON, and other variations that make them hard to pin down? :-) Forgive my ignorance on the established AUSTIN lines--- I have been lost in MS & TN for a LONG time! Thanks for your help, and hope I connect with someone! Pam [email protected]
