    2. To Bobby County and the AUSTIN and Morgan Co, AL Lists >From Helen Austin, [email protected] In a message dated 7/26/98 9:51:05 PM, you wrote: <<In any of your records do you have a Samuel or Nancy Austin. Samuel died about 1849 in Morgan County. Wife Nancy Teague Austin. All their children were born in NC, undoubtly they had just moved there to Morgan County when he died. My husband's GreatGrandmother was Elvira Austin, who married James W. White. Her brothers were William F., B: 1832,\ Leander M., B: 1834, Vandiver Lawson, B: 1836 and sister, Mary E.R., B: 1840. William and Vandiver both married Hutsons of Morgan County. If fact, a cousin, who had done some research years ago stated that the Austinville Cemetery was from land donated by one of the Austins. I live in Alaska so research is limited on these people. Trying to find Samuel's parents. Thought they might be related to some Austins in Morgan County and that was reason they moved there from NC. Would appreciate any info you might have. Thanks. Bobbie County>> Frm Helen- I know something about the "Austinville" Austins of NC. Enough to know that they are not related to our "Falkville-Mountain Springs" Austins of SC and TN. That is, our John C. AUSTIN was b 1831 TN when your Samuel AUSTIN fam was still in NC. And he was in Morgan Co, AL about 1854, when his sister Nancy married. At that time Samuel was still in NC (because of birth dates of ch in NC). Also, the Samuel AUSTIN family had some money and were prosperous. They made investments as soon as they arrived in Mo Co., had a gristmill and property with an artesian well, which is still sending up water daily from a fountain on Spring Avenue in Austinville. John Austin seemed to have little money of his own and worked at the grist mill of his father-in-law, Isaac Edwards in the area that is now called Falkville, AL. When he was about fifty years old, John went to the next county, Lawrence, to the Forest and had a homestead. Of course, I should not discount the possibility that the SC and NC AUSTIN families were connected back in the 18th century. I just don't know about that. I am still not answering your question about the NC sources for your families. Again, I don't know. I have not searched in earnest for that families roots. However, there are several researchers who are members of the AFAOA and perhaps they will contact you. Here are some namesof your cousins who have researched your family : Sandra Benham, 6790 India Lane, Cummings, GA 30131 and James A. Boutwell, 1116 Sandra St. SW, Decatur, AL, still lives in Austinville, and another local lady who is a member of Mo Co. Gen soc and AFAOA and will probably see this message. Good luck
