    1. Re: Anne Young Amelia County
    2. Dear Sir: I am trying to locate information on an ancestor:AnneYoung of Amelia County. In 1935 the following article appeared in the Amelia Gazette: AMELIA NEGRO SLAVE DIES AT 110 YEARS Deatonville. August 11. With the funeral services conducted here Sunday, for Anne Young, colored, who died Saturday morning at the ripe old age of 110 years, the last rites were paid to the oldest known resident of Amelia County. "Aunt Anne'" as she was familiarly known among a wide circle of both white and colored friends who love and respect her, was born and reared in Amelia County, and her life was projected over four generation. She was born in 1825 a slave and remained one until 36 years old. This is all that I have of the newsclipping. I would like to know more. Can the books you site be of any help? I understand she owned property some of which was given away: "In the year 1874 on this 4th day of November in the year 1874 between Monroe Young and Ann his wife of the one part and Louis Bolden Jon Randal Henr and Smith trustee of "Gravel Hill" Church in Amelia County of the second part Witnelseth that for an in consideration of the sum twenty dollar in hand paid by the said parties of the second part unto the said Monroe Young. Witness our hands and seal this day year above written. I would like to know more about her. My father was named Claude Monroe Young. My mother was an Austin. Thus, I have come to this page.
