Re: Mortality Census for Greenville City, Greenville Dist, SC 1850 >From Helen Austin Since I have been working on a transcription of the 1860 US Census for SC, I noticed a difference in what we have in our transcribed 1850 Census for Austin families of Greenville, SC and what is listed on the Mortality Schedule for that year. A Jane Austin b 1765 in Pennsylvania, age 85, d November of 1850 , cause Old Age, widowed. If she was previously listed on the population schedule, I cannot identify her. There is a Jane Austen age 67, female, birthplace is do for same as husbands, (NC) that Jane is in damily 2088 with a husband William A. Austin, Sr. age 72, m, farmer $1200 pp b NC. Now, unless her husband also died in 1850 and is not on the mortality schedule, this is not the same Jane as her age and married status is different. Does anyone know in what family the Jane b 1765 in PA belongs? Also a Robert Austin age 3, b SC died April 1850 because of lockjaw. also of Greenville Dist, SC
