I don't know who you talked to about Josiah Talmadge and Abilgail Austin, but our Austin Families Association of America records show that Abigail and her brother Charles are children of Benjamin Austin, who died in Schaghticoke, Renssalaer, NY, son of Thomas Austin and Abigail Wiltsie, son of Thomas Austin and Esther ( of NY, Long Island ) This database is currently being developed ( almost ready ) for the AFAOA Website.
