Austin Listers... The Austin Families Genealogical Society (AFGS) has hundreds of documents pertaining to Austin-Austen family histories and genealogies. Many of these are available for searching at the Austin-Austen Research Center (AARC): http://www.austins.org/ResearchCenter where Guests are welcome. However, hundreds of other Austin- Austen documents have not yet been "digitized" and thus cannot be searched at the AARC. A new AFGS project is currently underway, known as the Austin-Austen Documents Digitization Project which involves volunteers transcribing documents using their home computers. Some examples of the fruits of this project are now available on some pages at the AFGS website: http://www.austins.org/cgi-bin/holdings43.asp http://www.austins.org/cgi-bin/holdings40.asp http://www.austins.org/cgi-bin/holdings31.asp You may view photocopies of those original documents by clicking on their titles. If you do not already have the Adobe Flash plug-in for your web browser, you can Download the Free Macromedia Flash Player via this address: http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/#players Back at the AFGS website Holdings pages, you may view PDF versions of digitized documents by clicking on the word "Digitized" appearing on the same line as the document title.. Documents without title links have not yet been scanned. If you would like to view a document which has not yet been scanned, just send an e-mail to holdings@austins.org and we will make a scan available on the holdings page as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours or less. If you are interested in volunteering to transcribe Austin- Austen documents so they can be easily searched by researchers, please contact the AFGS Secretary, Donald Edroy Austin. His e-mail is Secretary@austins.org. ... Mike Austin Dr. Michael Edward Austin, President Austin Families Genealogical Society 23 Allen Farm Lane, Concord, MA 01742 http://www.austins.org
